  • easy Monday

this is the first day in forever that I didn't have to be up early for something or other and I don't have anything until bible study tonight at 7 so I have a day to work on my W;nk project and catch up the laundry and maybe just sit and read later. Liz will come for lunch but that is a bonus and no pressure to eat lunch with her and chat.

Friday afternoon I rearranged my living room and the more I am in there the more I really like it.

Saturday Andy had to be to work at 5:30am! so we left here at 5 stopped by the store on the way home to pick up a couple of things to make breakfast for my folks. They came at about 7:30 for sausage, eggs and banana pancakes. I can still cook, funny how I don't for one. I was showing my dad some funny animal video's on the computer when my brother called and said he was going to stop by :) we had a nice visit.

Saturday afternoon I worked with Ashleigh that is always fun. we laughed and talked and snacked through our shift. I am so proud of her and so happy to see her take charge at the desk and help the members or be tough on the members who need that. It was a fun afternoon. When we got off work her car wouldn't start. I told her I would not leave her stranded. She fiddled around and eventually it started.

Sunday morning Andrew (I am trying to call him that again) had to be to work at 6:30 - when we got there it took a few minutes for him to get someone's attention to have them let him in. I was to meet Matt at the old Blimpie on First Ave to get the boys, I texted him to tell him what was up he said that's ok they were just at McDonald's drive through. When I pulled up to get them Matt said perfect timing, I just got here :)

The boys were good during church, Jamie sat with us and he and Asa kept talking but that's what kids do, I had to keep reminding Asa to be quiet, that's how they learn. It seemed like there was a lot of 'under noise' during church not sure what all that was about but it was unsettling for me. It did not help that I was so tired however.

Home from church, got lunch and the boys wanted to watch The Croods again so got them settled to do that and heated up the leftovers from Friday and got caught up on the computer. Biding my time till we had to drive to get Andrew again.

Lazy afternoon, a cat nap then finally to bed where I slept for 10 hours! I really needed that. I feel like a new person today :)

I had a nice long quiet time after I got up today, boy did I need that.

  • . . . continuation

trying to think back to whenever guess I should post more often

spent last evening with Smith's eating chinese food then watched The Croods

got home to find Brittany here, her car parked at Kum and Go out of gas. I told her I had a gas can, went out to the garage to get it to find the garage door is messed up again. With Andrew's help we got the door open, went and got gas in the can. As we were filling the can Mantz's pulled up! So great to see them and hear Michael giving glory to God for His healing touch!!!

Brittany got home safely, Andrew went to bed, I took a shower then dinked around on the computer, then I went to bed and started my new book :) only read one chapter because I needed to be up before 5 to get Andrew to work by 5:30

Dad and Mom are coming for breakfast (soon!) they will be heading to Arizona tomorrow so one last chance to see them

    I work today with Ashleigh!!!

    Boys will come tomorrow morning!

Hannah and I went to eat at the new Wendy's last early out day. We walk in and right away I hear my name at the same time I see Colton and Asa sitting in a booth! We got to eat with Laura and the boys ;) that was nice

W;nk has been going well, I am so enjoying working with the pre school kids along with Dale and Marlys. It's been a challenge but it's been fun getting to know these little people (not Dale and Marlys hee hee)

I got the items I needed for the memory verse cards I will be making for our class, I am planning to take it to work today just in case I get a chance to work on them.

I worked the Zumba party last Saturday after the Steven's party. That was a fun time at the birthday party :) I am a little bitter that Sheila did not set up the chairs in front of the wall and sing to us, but Ash and Sheila did sing a song together. The Zumba party was crazy for all the receipting I had to do! So thankful for Lynn and the other instructor's help with all of that. I work the halloween party next Friday - extra pay to go towards a newer vehicle

I have also picked up a Sat morning shift every other Saturday 8 - 12

I better go get some breakfast started for my guests!

  • let's see . . .

worked with Kim today we had 5 kids and not one after 11:45

I am tired, up earlier so Andy can drive to work then back across town in the afternoons so he can dive home. He's doing a great job and it will be worth it all when he finally gets his license

We had a great time on Sunday at Dad's 85th birthday party. Most everyone in the family came and it was so nice to see everyone and catch up. It was a cool day with rain off and on so the fire felt really great :) I ate way too much food but it was so good! I sure do love and appreciate my family I know my Dad really liked the day and having all of us together. Soon they will leave for Arizona, the time just goes way too fast!

    to be continued . . .

  • October 3 another beautiful day

I woke up early this morning and decided to get up. My alarm was set for 7 but the coffee pot was set for 6 coincidence? I think not! ha so I got up. Actually it was nice to have a extra hour this morning. As I was turning on the kitchen light I heard Andy get up. I am sure he wanted me to ask if he wanted me to drive him to work but I didn't want to be 45 minutes early for work again today so I didn't offer.

Finally he went out the door to catch the bus and just a few minutes later he was back, he had forgotten his hat, out the door once again. About 20 minutes later he texted and said the bus still had not come. I was just getting ready to text and say come back and I will drive you when he texted again nevermind. Whew dodged a bullet there

I got a call from Hannah this morning and we had the nicest chat. She told me about pulling her tooth which was really loose and after biting down on a blueberry crunch piece of cereal the tooth had turned upside down, she said it was time to pull it out because it was really annoying. She told me what she had packed for her lunch and what specials she had today, and that she had called her Mom, but she had forgotten her phone at home. She told me about uncle Dave who used to have the room she now has for her room and that it was nice to see Grampa Cabin. And she thought her dad looked good with buzzed hair (Grampa Cabin is losing his hair due to chemo). She said if she had been a boy she would have buzzed her hair too, but it would look too weird on a girl :) . She had to get ready for school so she hung up and I finished getting ready for work.

Yesterday was my 1 year anniversary at the Y! how is that even possible. I really do enjoy my job and the friends I have made there especially the little ones :) A little boy named Gracin came out to the front desk with Amy last Friday when I was working. Amy said Gracin wanted to know where the 'blue lady' was . . . Amy said who? You know, the blue lady that always talks to me, she knew he meant me so she brought him out to see me :) He and I are pretty good buds, he was pretty fragile when he first came in to the child watch so we started talking and I must have worn my blue shirt I am not sure how I came to be the blue lady but whatever. I did not have him this week, maybe he will come in tomorrow with his Grampa.

Kim and I were already to come home early today because the last little girl left at about 12:20 and there were no other kids. She and I were talking, I was straightening the books and she was cleaning the 'kitchens' when in through the door came Aubrey with Auggie, Chicken, Allegra and Zissa :) Three of those children came yesterday, today all four came. It was nice to see them and they really played good together. The littlest one, Zissa was really shy yesterday, but today she warmed up to me so that was pretty neat. At about 3 minutes till 1 I told the kids their mom was going to be coming we needed to pick up the toys and they got them all picked up really quickly and happily. When these kids come they like to get out A LOT of toys so it was nice to have help picking up!

I hung around after I clocked out and chatted with Sheila which was wonderful! I feel like I have not seen her in ever so long and just to hear her heart and to have her tell me what The Lord has been doing in her heart was so great for this Momma's heart. Finally she was off work and we walked out to our cars together and talked some more :) finally I came on home.

I was going to sit down and dink around on the computer but decided I was going to go walk again today, so I got ready and went for a walk. It was so nice to be outside and listening to Lenny LeBlanc - like a visit with an old friend. Doug really liked him, lots of nice memories of listening to Lenny in the rammer :)

I got a text from my mom that a long time friend of mine and Doug's passed away. Dave Deaver was such a neat guy who loved Jesus with all his heart. You didn't have to talk to him long to know that. We met Dave way back at the Y when The Fellowship met there on Sunday nights over 35 years ago. I was sad to read his obit, not one thing was mentioned about his faith, his wife is not a believer :( Happy to know that Dave is in heaven now seeing Jesus face to face!

I got my apples peeled, cut up and ready for pie or whatever apple desert I want to make and put into the freezer :) JoAnna has had my apple peeler corer slicer, so I was glad I didn't have a ton of apples.

I need to go take a shower so my hair can dry before bed. Project Runway tonight then early to bed, tomorrow is my early shift, lunch then back to work for Jaylin I get to work with Sheila yipee!

  • what a lovely day to visit Kalona

Such a beautiful day! And I got to spend the day with my folks, and with good long time friends. We started out at Paul and Sharon's home what a lovely place they have. Paul is a woodworker and makes such beautiful things. Doug would have really loved it. They have their old porch swing in their basement (finished basement) what a great idea.

We started out at the Kalona Historical Museum and my oh my the stuff they had there. It was great but too short of a time with so much to see. From there we went to a woodworking place, couldn't help but miss Doug seeing all of the wood products and getting a chance to smell the wood and see the woodworkers actually working. From there we went to Sylvia's home for dinner, I have been there a couple of times with the Grands and today did not dissapoint. So much food and good fellowship, another couple, Jim and Marsha from Clear Lake joined our tour, it was nice to get to know them a little bit.

From Sylvia's we went to a Chocolate factory but I was so full, I couldn't even try one of the samples. I did however go into the bakery and got some goodies for tomorrow when I will be hungry again :) . From there we went to a metal working shop and saw some very strange things, very expensive strange things. They are currently working on a chicken that is prolly close to 6 feet tall and weighs about 500 pounds, a commissioned piece for Coralville. That place was a little strange for me, dirty and kinda creepy I was glad to leave there. Some really cool pieces made of brass but woah the price!

We stopped at Stringtown grocery on our way home, they have built a brand new store very big with a huge parking lot, but not moved into it yet. It was a good day and so interesting and fun but boy is this gal pooped.

I got up at 5:30 so I could be ready to take Andy to Panera leaving here at 6 now, after Bible Study this evening and a drive to Center Point due to a detour this gal is ready for bed!

  • Women's Retreat 2013

What a weekend. What an amazing God we serve. He calls us and equips us to do His will then shows up and does what He wants He is AWESOME!

I am so blessed to be a part of such wonderful group of women who encourage, challenge, make me laugh, make me cry, love me, tease me and just plain love me. Thank you, Jesus for these incredible women you have placed in my life!

It's going to be so cool to watch and see what happens because of  this weekend away with Jesus.

And to hear the 'camp memoires'

  • Friday the 13th

There is so much broo ha ha about Friday the 13th well my Mom was born on the 13 and every few years it just happens that her birthday falls on a Friday :) Doug died on the 13 so his heaven going anniversary will also fall on a Friday - just had to get that out.

What a beautiful day! It's cool, a little chilly in the shade but in the sun it's so lovely! I got off work today and stayed for a bit to chat with Sheila. She asked me what I was going to do and I told her nothing because Liz wasn't coming for lunch, my folks are out of town at retirees and Tricia is gone to Brittany's, she said go to the Library. I told her yeah, but I wanted to go and take my Kindle she said, just go and see what it's like when there are fewer people there, just familiarize yourself with the new library :) . So when I left work I drove that way, that's the way I usually come home anyways, as I drove by a parking spot (on the street - free) I kept going thinking maybe I could park in the parking lot behind the library, nope, it was full. I was just going to drive on home and thought no, I am going to go into the new library! So, I drove around the block and parked in the spot that I had driven by.

What a beautiful Library we have! It is so neat, new and clean and fresh and the view from the rooftop is amazing! I teared up in the elevator thinking how much Doug loved the library but I was ok., and I was proud of myself for doing something new on my own ;)

Frustrated trying to get my kindle to be able to share a book with JoAnna finally gave that up, she will have to come and help me. Her Kindle is different than mine anyways and I figure it's no good just getting more and more frustrated, too lovely a day for that!

Relaxing weekend ahead :) one more week till Women's Retreat how did it get here so fast when it was so far away?
